Create a Shower Sanctuary with the Perfect Glass Shower Door

If you are upgrading your bathroom and shower, you have a lot of decisions to make. One of those decisions is the type of shower door or glass shower shield you want for your shower. You deserve your shower to feel like an oasis, and it can be a tough decision to figure out exactly how to achieve that. To determine the type of glass shower door you want for your bathroom, check out some of our fantastic options below, and learn the steps to making your shower door dreams come true.

Choosing a Shower Door: Which Option Fits Your Style and Space?

There are many different types of shower enclosures, and you should choose the one that fits with your style.

  • Glass Shower Shield – A glass shower shield is a clean and minimalist option for a shower enclosure. While this fixed panel only covers part of your shower opening, it doesn’t require an additional shower door, which can make it a more affordable option.
  • Frameless Pivot Tub Door – A pivot tub door is an excellent choice if you are looking for a door

Modern bathroom interior combined with toilet. Shower room and toilet are covered with tiles in the color of wood, white walls and a white floor and a washbasin with a large mirror in the center

that opens and closes. However, you must be sure you have enough space in your bathroom for the tub door to swing out.

  • Bypass Sliding Shower Door – You can get a semi-frameless sliding shower door that is beautiful and easy to use. This is a fabulous option if you don’t have enough room in your bathroom for a swinging door.

These are just three different bathtub or shower door options, but there are so many more. Hopefully, these ideas can help you start to consider what it is that you want from your shower enclosure. Once you have determined what type of shower enclosure you want, you need to order it and have it built. We can help with that!

Steps to Building Your Ideal Shower Door

If you are looking to order a glass shower shield or shower door for your bathroom, there are a few things you need to know. We have compiled a list of the steps you must take to build and order your shower enclosure from Giant Glass & Mirror.

  • Shower Type – First, we need to know the type of shower you have. Do you have a corner shower or a neo angle shower? Are you looking for a fixed glass shower screen or a sliding shower door? The type of shower you have determines the kind of door you want to get, as well as whether you need just one glass wall or more than one.
  • Shower Layout – The next step is determining the layout of your shower. How will everything be set up in your space? For example, if you are planning to have a pivot shower door next to a fixed glass shower panel, you need to decide if the door will be on the left or right. Knowing the layout helps us create the door, the glass clamps, and hinges exactly as they should be.
  • Measurements for the Shower – In order to create the right size door or shower panel, we need the measurements for your shower. To get accurate measurements for your shower enclosure, measure the height and width in more than one place. Differences in height or width from top to bottom or side to side may require additional customization. Additionally, if you are ordering more than one side of glass, you must also measure any angles.
  • Glass Thickness and Type – After you determine your shower type, layout, and measurements, you can move on to choosing the glass thickness and glass type. For a frameless shower door or frameless glass shower shield, you need a glass thickness of at least 3/8 of an inch, but you can get glass that is up to 1/2 inch thick if you prefer. You also need to decide which type of glass you would like for your shower shield. Your options include clear glass, frosted glass, rain glass, and more.
  • Hardware Options – The final step is to choose the hardware for your glass shower door. You can pick from custom handles, towel bars, and hooks. We also have a wide variety of materials your hardware can be made of, such as brushed nickel, chrome, brass, satin, antique brushed copper, and oil rubbed bronze.

Follow these simple steps to build your perfect glass shower shield or frameless shower door, and turn your bathroom into the retreat you need for the start and end of your day. You can reach out to Giant Glass & Mirror if you have any questions on shower door types or any steps in the process. We are happy to help you find the shower door that fits perfectly with your home.
